Will Merchant Softball Tournament

Tel and I played in a 3 day tournament this past weekend for the Intrepid Team. We played 2 games Friday night, 3 games Saturday night, and our team played 3 games Sunday (Tel and I didn't play). We had a good time. I now have a great story for when anyone asks me what the dumbest thing I've ever done was. We had a 10pm game on Saturday night and I was catching. There was a runner on 3rd base and I had the ball at home plate and the runner was off the bag. So I threw it to 3rd base, and I ended up pegging the umpire in the back of the head with the ball. I was so zoned in on the 3rd baseman, that I didn't see the umpire in my line of vision. When the ball hit the back of the umpire's head, it made the loudest noise ever. Which was then followed by complete silence. All the guys in the outfield even herd the THUNK. I was so completely embarrassed. The poor guy...But our team still won the sportsmanship award, so I didn't completely blow that for the team.
So we ended the tournament in second place.

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

In the past year I have ate probably a dozen of Roxanne's banana chocolate chip muffins and LOVE them. So I finally got her recipe and made them last night! They are so good. The recipe uses whole wheat flour and lite sour cream instead of oil, so I feel a little bit better about eating them (not really) I've never made homemade muffins of any kind before. So now, I'm on a muffin kick and want to make homemade blueberry muffins! That's on my weekly bucket list!
Nursing School

Tel officially started nursing school at New Mexico State University on August 19th, 2010. After purchasing 17 text books, a lab kit, scrubs, white shoes, polo shirts, lab jacket, and getting vaccinations, physical, completing hours of dosage calculations, and many other things, he is finally on his way to being an RN!

**Book Review**

I just finished the first 2 books of this series, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and The Girl who Played with Fire" and am on the third, "The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest". I absolutely loved the first 2 books. If you like mysteries, I highly recommend. They aren't the typical Mary Higgins Clark type mystery. Much better! I could go on and on about the plot and summary of the book. But i'm not going to bore you, so if you are interested, just read it! I am excited for the movie to come out!

Settler's of Catan= The BEST board game

The summer of 2010 introduced us to our favorite board game yet. Brady and Brittney are the guilty ones for teaching us the addicting game. To be honest, I never ever wanted to learn to play the game. It sounded really boring to me. But one night after having dinner at Brad and Brit's we decided to play. We couldn't stop playing after just 1 game. So we played a couple of games that night, followed by a couple of games each night for the next week straight. Never before have I daydreamed about trading ore, sheep, brick, wheat and wood. It was funny, Tel would wake up in the morning and he would tell me that he had yet, another dream about Settler's of Catan. I also kept feeling that, me of all people, the lover of board games, why haven't I played this game before?! So I do feel like I have missed out on many year's of settling.

After we were past the amateur stage, Brad and Brit introduced us to Sea Farers.

It was just as fun! But it added 1 more commodity to the picture, ships! Then we said, bring on more commodities and Tel and I purchased Cities and Knights!

Now the game became very strategic and complicated. But it's really fun. Except it takes about 2 hrs to play one game.  Anyways, that's Tel and I's new addiction!

Intrepid's Base Hit Tournament Champions!!!!!

1/2 UR Age and Then Some=Winners

So Intrepid had a base hit softball tournament. And it turns out that the desk jockies (my team) are actually pretty good! Everyone on our team was in there 20's except for one person, which adds to our title, the "then Some." It took us quite a while to come up with our name. It came from management talking smack to us. So some of the guys started pulling out the old people jokes and saying that we were half their age and going to kick their butt, which we did.

The Baby of the family graduates from High School!

So I got really lucky and was able to attend Sasha's graduation in Idaho because of work. I was doing a job fair in Price, UT the same week that Sasha was graduating. So I guess you can say I was in the right place at the right time.

And Tel got to come too! We got in a few dirt bike rides too. Even a 5:00am ride out at Indian Creek with Colton, Ivan, and Drew.

I got to see Jeb and Leigh's kids twice while we were there, which is always one of my favorite things to do in Idaho.

They loved the boxing, but poor Bubby kept getting beat by Brystene

The Myers family got together at Rachael and Brad's cute house in IF for a Sunday dinner too. And..I got to have breakfast with Noel at Enders on morning.

Natalie is getting hitched!!!!!!!!!!

So Natalie, my old roomie and good friend is getting married on November 5th, 2010. So i'm heading to Utah for that weekend. I am one of her bridesmaids and i'm so excited to go to her sealing in the Salt Lake Temple. It will be my first time witnessing a sealing and my first time in the Salt Lake Temple.
The ELKS...

On Friday (8/20/10) after work, Tel, Layne, and I golfed the par 3 course! It was super hot, but fun! That night Bill and Jackie invited us to go to dinner with them at the Elks. Bill is a guy that I work with. They are an older couple that have both lived in Carlsbad all their life. We had such a good time. We ate some good steaks and attempted to learn to dance. Bill tried teaching me, while Jackie danced with Tel. Haha it was funny. Tel and I were the youngest people on the dance floor by at least 3 decades!! Bill and Jackie can dance the Jitterbug and waltz really well. Good times.
